Buochs Airport: Opportunities and Risks of the Civil Use

June 14, 2017

Once the air force will have moved from Buochs Airport in the Canton of Nidwalden, the airport shall be used for civil purposes. This repurposing brings up a number of questions: How can the flight operations be organised and financed? What opportunities and risks are connected to a civil use from the Canton's perspective? And, depending on the upcoming ownership situation, how can the Canton play an active role in shaping the future and hence in maintaining the public interests? INFRAS examined these questions and, together with representatives of the government, presented and discussed the results with the political actors.
